A bibliographical research on the herbal medicines used for treatment of baldheads found that there were 140 herbal medicines available for the treatment of hair loss; they included 75 vegetable medicines, 46 animal medicines, 10 mineral medicines, and 9 other medicines.
The number of medicines that could treat baldheads with no new hair or with slow hair growth was found to be 24; they consisted of 18 vegetable medicines,5 animal medicines, I other medicine; but no mineral medicine was found for this type of treatment. In addition, the number of the medicines that could be applied to change the hair color from white to black was 12 and all of them were of vegetable nature.
Overall, the study showed that there were a total of 159 herbal medicines related to the treatment of baldheads: they were classified into 97 vegetable medicines, 45 animal medicines, 10 mineral medicines, and 9 other medicines.
